Steps

Up to this point, Tae's feet have been rooted to the ground. Yes she would cruise if she was holding on to furniture, but if she was free standing-that was it. She would stand until she got bored, slowly lower herself to the ground, and take off crawling like a baby possessed. We had tried to help her walk, but it turned into a I-can't-believe-your-forcing-me-to-do-this prance. Prance is totally the right word. I wondered how long it would take her to realize that she could move her feet while she was standing. Well, it happened last night. I stood Tae up and she walked to me! I can't believe how much that made me happy, sad, excited and terrified all at the same time. We started having her walk between us. She maxed out at 5 steps. I ran to grab my camera, then realized the battery was dead. Unwilling to admit defeat, I grabbed the camcorder. Dead too. Blast me and my procrastination! I'll charge batteries tonight and post a video tomorrow.

Hoover Dam and Bypass

I know they are small, but can you see Taryn and Dad in the pic below? Tae was a good sport, but the trip sure tuckered her out. It's OK, she only missed the 2.5 hours of fighting traffic on Boulder Highway, the strip and whatever streets we took trying to get away from the strip.

Some pictures from our spring break in Vegas with my family.

Our group (left to right): Taelyn, Kaylan, Jon, Holly, Taryn, Forrest, Colton, Shay, Dad, Mom. I'm behind the camera, and Truck, a.k.a. stick in the mud, was at the resort. Not the best group picture, but the only one I was able to get.
Ah, yes. That is why Jon and I were so down yesterday. After this, having it snow when we got back was definitely depressing.

What Happens In Vegas...

...doesn't happen to us. And I couldn't be more grateful.

Saturday we got back from our family vacation to Las Vegas. Talk about a wonderful trip. We spent the week there with my whole family. We stayed in Cedar Saturday night and got to Vegas Sunday afternoon. Mom, Truck and Taryn drove down Sunday night. Dad flew in on Monday. Colton and Shay [with Forrest and Holly (friends) and Kaylan (Shay's little bro)] came on Wednesday. We all left Saturday morning.

To keep from boring you with the details, I'll just give you a bulleted list of things we did (pictures not included in this post):

Traveling to Vegas
Family photos
Stopped into see Paul and Joe (Jon’s brothers that live at the south end of Utah Lake) and their families
Stayed overnight with Colton and Shay in Cedar City

While in Vegas
Room changing fiasco (took up 4 hours of our first day)
Hoover dam (the new bridge is awesome! and I'm not the only one that thought so)
Played Wii (Even Mom and Dad got into it!)
Swimming at the resort (Tae loved it!)
Prom dress shopping with Mom and Taryn (she decided to wait until she got asked before buying anything)
Prime rib dinner (that wasn’t that great--but we only paid $8.99!)
Vegas Temple (definitely one of the highlights of the trip)
Ethel’s Chocolate Factory
Ethel's Botanical Cactus Garden
Silverton’s Aquarium (during the feeding frenzy)
Bellagio’s Fountain
Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Garden
10+ hours math homework and test prep

Traveling Home
In-N-Out Burger (Stopped on the way out of Vegas. Good shake.)
Cheese Factory in Beaver
Stopped into see Russ (Jon's other brother that lives at the south end of Utah Lake)

Photos

So I finally made us make time to go get family photos. What is really funny is that the hardest thing for the photographer was to get a good picture of Jonathan. Really. You would think it would be the kid. Nope. She was all kinds of smiley. Jon was either not smiling, had his eyes closed, or had glare off of his glasses. After taking 15 or so pictures, only 1 (that's right--ONE) picture turned out. On the positive side, it made selecting pictures really easy!

These are the unedited photos that were online. The prints we got are much better, but I forgot to grab them this morning. *Note to self: Next time, don't use clips in Tae's hair. They don't show up and make her hair look like its doing something funny.*

Mommy and Tae

I'm not one that feels comfortable with posting pictures of myself on my blog. Something to do with the additional baby weight that I still can't get rid of. Anyway, I really didn't want to post these, but Jon begged me to.
*3 weeks ago Jon had a math test. We both took the day off, took Tae to daycare, and spent 7 hours studying. While he was taking the test, I got stir crazy. I couldn't handle sitting at the house and waiting. I decided to fill my time by getting my hair cut. I told her I wanted it somewhere between my shoulders and my chin. I think she only listened to the end of what I was saying...
